Courses Year 7-13

Years 7, 8 & 9

For our Year 7, 8 and 9 courses we provide a unified and purposeful programme of learning that prioritises literacy, numeracy and physical education as the basis for all learning, and builds foundations in the skills and content required to be successful students in future learning. Year 7 & 8 students are given the opportunity to sample the wide range of option subjects available. In Year 9 students select four option subjects they wish to study.

Year 10

In Year 10 we shift to a programme that provides a more unique approach to learning aimed to engage and challenge students, while also preparing them for senior NCEA. Students choose from a wide range of specialist subjects while also continuing with their literacy, numeracy, physical education, and compulsory science and social science.

Year 11, 12 & 13

Senior students have the opportunity to specialise in order to meet the requirements of NCEA, and to prepare for tertiary study and vocational pathways. We offer a wide range of senior subjects with specialist teachers and resources, and gain consistently outstanding academic results in comparison to other decile 8 schools nationwide. Students also access courses from the Correspondence School, Ara Polytech, University of Canterbury, and virtual learning programmes. Outdoor Education, Hospitality and Agriculture are areas in which our school is accredited to deliver industry standard programmes, and we also provide workplace learning through the Gateway programme.
