Positive Relationships

Dear Parents/Caregivers

As a part of our Year 7-10 Health programme for Terms 3 & 4, we wish to advise we will be working with the students on positive relationships.

The Year 7-8 programme is made up as follows:

  • Characteristics of pubertal change
  • Strategies to manage pubertal change
  • Self worth
  • Attitudes and values
  • Functions of the sexual and reproductive parts of the body
  • Sexual feelings
  • Different attitudes, values, beliefs and behaviours
  • Choices and consequences
  • Resource agencies and health services
  • Strategies to deal with harassment and abuse
  • Gender and sexuality stereotypes and prejudice on self worth
  • Assertive skills
  • Lifestyle factors and media influences
  • Interpersonal skills to enhance relationships
  • Explore issues relating to pressure
  • Effects of changing roles on relationships and managing change
  • Develop strategies to support the rights and feelings of self and others

The Year 9-10 programme is made up as follows:

Year 9 lesson topics will include:

  • Relationships/Friendships
  • Attitudes and Values
  • Decision Making
  • Changes at Puberty Revision
  • Positive Sexuality
  • Conception
  • Contraception
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections

Year 10 lesson topics will include:

  • Relationships/Friendships
  • Attitudes and Values
  • Sex and Sexuality
  • Positive Sexuality
  • Conception
  • Contraception
  • Risky Behaviour
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections
