In the First week of the holidays the Year 9/10 Netball team went to Junior SISS Netball Tournament in Christchurch. They had a great first day winning all 3 games. they won 2 games by big margins ( Papanui 38 -17 and Blue Mountain 45 - 17) and the last against Kavanagh 32 -26. They were playing some great netball.  Amy Ross and Tianna Curtis did a great job coaching the girls. The second day came around with another great win over Menzies College 36 -7.  The team needed one more win to be top of the pool and make the quarter finals, unfortunately the girls let the pressure get to them and they lost to a team they had beaten already this year, ( Darfield 22 -31). While they still finished 2nd in their pool and made the playoffs they had to take on a harder opponent which had a very tall boy playing for them.  The girls were excited by their nsuccess and were ready to play. They played some great netball but were unable to win going down by 6 to Hill View High School.  The score ended 26 - 32. They were  then playing off for 5th - 8th positions which was a great achievement.  Their opponent Middleton Grange  looked a very even match for our girls.  We had a very slow start and found ourselves down by 8 goals after the first quarter. The coaches made a few changes which worked and the scores were even by the start of the last quarter. However,  all that extra work catching up took its toll and the girls ended up losing by 3.  The score finished 26 -29. They then took on Buller High School for 7th and 8th places.  Buller had been playing some nice netball and it was very close  through out the game.  In the end the Geraldine girls stepped it up another level to win 30 -23 and place 7th which is an awesome effort. The girls and coaching team of Amy Ross and Tianna Curtis should be very proud of the teams success  . Well done girls.
