First place (in
NZ!) exam –Primary industry Knowledge, 7th overall
Angus Wallace, Robert Furrer and William Wilson spent months studying and practising for the competition held on the last day of term at Caroline Bay. 21 teams from all over NZ competed across 3 sections:
· Exam-Animal ID, Competition knowledge, Geography, Tools, General and Primary Industry knowledge and an essay.
· Observation-build a wooden aeroplane and decorate.
· Practical- First aid, Stock judging, Farm bikes, South Fuels, Aqua culture.
The team from GHS worked hard at all the above and clearly their hard work paid off in the exam. Our boys made the Top 7 teams and competed in the race-off which was a physical challenge of sack racing, tyre rolling, cabinet building, irrigation, and ear tagging.
Our team was one of the youngest in the competition this year with many competitors having made the grand final previously so this was an awesome result.
