2016 Geraldine Poetry Competition

Jakob Stachurski, Jacob Boal and Ethan Hornsby took part in the 2016 Geraldine Poetry Competition. Geraldine High School is one of twelve schools who entered the competition this year. 

In the year 13-14 age group, Jakob gained second equal place for his poem ‘Hunting’. The judge commented on Jakob’s thoughtful choice of words and his ability to show the Hunter’s perspective. Jacob and Ethan both gained a highly commended in the same age group.


A deer may come my way

Let me aim straight and true

A swift clean kill is all I want

For his last breath must be not in pain

Now today is gone and what's done is done

With a whole new light tomorrow it is a wait

Maybe with a bit of magic
