On the 11th of October, the Community Committee hosted the Geraldine
Ladies Club at the school for morning tea and a small tour around the school.
We were lucky enough to have 27 ladies join us for a morning filled with
laughter and stories. A number of students helped out including members of the
student executive, Year 7, Year 9, Year 12 and Year 13 and all have
said that whilst it was daunting, it was a great experience.
Something that the ladies enjoyed a lot was the tour around the school which allowed them to get a look at the day to day style of the school. Speaking to the ladies who were grandparents and ex-students of the school, we realised that whilst a lot of them had lived in the community for a long period of time, they hadn't had any real opportunity to see the school. The ladies particularily liked seeing the technology block and seeing the opportunities we have as students now compared to what they had when they were at school.
The Community Committee loved hosting the Ladies Club as it meant we got the opportunity to bring the community into our school and let them have a closer look at the school that we are so fortunate to have. Events like these make everybody feel good; the students get to hear a lot of stories and experiences from the women and the ladies get to see the students and the school.
A big thanks has to go to the Community Committee for helping with all of the organisation, the Student Executive who were involed, the Year 12's, Year 7's and Year 13's who helped out with tours and chatting with the ladies, the two Year 9's who directed everyone towards the Library and Ms Quinn who helped organise and run the morning. Without any of these people or the support of the staff and students all over the school, mornings and things like these would not be possible.
