Our 3 Japanese students sat their New Zealand Speech Examinations in Timaru recently and all received very good marks (2 students received a Merit and 1 student received the top mark of Distinction).

They had to prepare 2 speeches and talk for a total of 6 minutes. They also had to prepare a small drama and read a passage from a book.

Giving a speech is always a stressful exercise but made more so when it is not your native language.

All of the girls wrote good speeches and spoke confidently.
