The Junior A Volleyball girls team had a pretty good start to their first ever SISS tournament. They had a loss in a close 3 set battle (with quite a few nerves). Unfortunately they had a bigger loss in their second game but a great 3 set win in the 3rd. The girls had a great time and improved with each game.
Day 2 :
The girls played one of the top teams in the morning and played the best Volleyball I have seen them play. They ended up losing in a very close 3 set battle. Unfortunately, the girls were mentally drained for the next game and lost in 2 sets (a game they possibly should have won), but this all part of the experience and why the girls entered the tournament - to experience more than 1 day of playing Volleyball. After a bit of a rest, the girls looked a lot more perky and played a much better game of Volleyball but ended up losing 2-0 to the team that came 3rd.
Day 3 :
With our pool play games being close and all teams beating each other, we unfortunately got last in our pool which meant we played Waimea for 13th and 14th place. The girls came out firing and won the first set 25 -15 and the Second 25 -18. The girls have improved heaps and are looking forward to getting into training and putting what they have learnt into practice.
Thank you to Year 13 student Courtney Bates who has coached these girls for 2 years. You are doing a fantastic job!
Well done to the girls and we look forward to seeing your progress over the season.
