Swimming Success for GHS students

By Submitted | Posted: Thursday February 9, 2017

Several GHS students have logged significant swimming achievements in the last few weeks.

Nic Houston and Conor Foley-Smith have both qualified for the National Level Division 2 meet in Rotorua in early March. Nic and Conor also recently participated in the Canterbury Championships in Dunedin.

Conor also swam his first open water ocean swim in January and came first in his age group. Nic’s older brother Stuart, a former GHS student also took first place in his category.

Four junior swimmers (12 and under)have gained qualification times for the newly introduced Makos Zone Junior Festival to be held in Timaru in mid-February.

Rafael Johnson, Emily Coleman, Kristin Schoneveld and Daniel Gould will all be participating at this meet which is the highest level meet a junior swimmer can participate in within New Zealand.

Zara Coleman has qualified in several events for the South Island Country and Town meet to be held in Dunedin in early April and Bede Fisher has also qualified for this meet for the first time.

We wish all the swimmers the best of luck for the upcoming meets and we know they’ll represent Geraldine with pride.
