All classes have had a crazy start to the year with an extra 52 hours outside normal school hours worked already. All students competed in TeenAg with 10 going on to begin the big task of fundraising to get to Fielding. Level 1 have completed their first fencing and farm bikes days at AgriLearn and have run the Future Farmers at the Winchester Show.
Level 2 have been hard at work with Austin Guerin’s character building mob of sheep and have completed a draft of lambs and sold the wool –not ready to give up our day jobs just yet! They have also had Work Safe and Roger Johnson (Forest Creek Station) in as guest speakers and have completed their First Aid and Health & Safety courses. They have also been at AgriLearn for their first chainsaw day and were hosted by Waihi Station for animal handling.
Both classes hosted Taieri High school who was visiting South Canterbury for a Primary Industry Tour. Our students were great ambassadors as they ran a series of modules for our visitors with a BBQ and quiz afterwards.
