Last Saturday Level 1 Primary Industry students planned, organised and ran the Future Farmers competition for Year’s 5-8 students. In a change from previous years, this was a module-based competition rather than a race and this appears to have been a popular modification.

Teams of 3 had to put up a fence, goose shoot, complete a quiz, erect a beehive, care for a farm dog, identify gear, complete a calendar and puzzles.

The teams from Winchester Rural School, Waihi Boys School, Geraldine Primary School and Geraldine High School all worked hard and the results were very close with only a few points separating the teams.

Year 7 & 8 Results

1st - Bede Fisher, Sam Wilson and Caleb Orange

2md - Angus Wallace, Jess Furrer and William Wilson

3rd - Ben Wyborn, Harry Reith and Quinn Foley-Smith

The next competition for junior students is the MacKenzie Show on Easter Monday.
