Students are currently working on their Food & Nutrition Unit. We have started by looking at the amount of sugar found in drinks and how to make healthy choices when at the supermarket. It has been quite a revelation to see just how much sugar there is, particularly in sports drinks.

We have also had a visit from Jan Gibbs (NZ Police) to chat about drivers licencing, host responsibility at parties and what to do if you have an accident. As always, Jan was a highly interesting and informative speaker.

A group of 16 students sat their Mountain Safety Firearms course in preparation for getting their Firearms Licence when they turn 16. Thank you to Greig Richardson for taking this for us. Students were very grateful to be able to have had the chance to sit this test at school amongst their peers.

Level 2 have completed and passed their Chainsaw assessment and have their fencing refresher coming up.

We all have a massive finish to the term with this weekend seeing Water Supply assessment at AgriLearn and a group going to the Coleridge Downs Open Day. This is followed by fencing with Al Johnston on Monday, a visit to Silver Fern Farms on Tuesday and off to Feilding to the Young Farmer Final on Wednesday.  All by then will need a holiday!
