Our Under 14 1/2 Rugby team travelled to Greymouth to compete in the Rural Livestock Rugby Tournament. This was an Under 15 Grade tournament so most of the boys will get another shot at this tournament next year. This was a great experience for the boys and they look forward to next years tournament in Queenstown. They were placed 19th overall.
Our Senior Boys Hockey team travelled to Oamaru to take part in the Coaches Cup Tournament. The boys got 2nd in their pool so made the top 8. They hit a couple of the stronger teams in their cross-overs and placed 8th overall.
Our Senior Girls Hockey team combined with a few girls from Mackenzie College to make up the South Canterbury Rural Combined team to compete in the Jenny McDonald Tournament. The Girls came 10th overall.
Our Senior Boys Basketball team travelled to Blenheim to compete in the SISS A Boys Basketball Tournament. They came up against some big guns on the first day but improved each game. They had some closer games in the later two days but couldn't quite get a win.
Our Senior Boys Football Team travelled to Christchurch to compete in the Jim Wishart Tournmament. With a couple unable to attend due to sickness and injury, the boys did very well with limited subs. They were placed 12th overall.
Our Senior A Netball Team traveled to Christchurch for the SISS Netball Tournament. The first couple of days were pretty hard with the girls trying to get used to the outdoor surface and the wind, but that didn't stop them from keeping on going and getting wins. Going into day three, two more wins and they would make the semi's. This is when the girls really stepped up and showed themselves and all the supporters that they can play some outstanding Netball. They won both games and went into the semi's on Thursday morning with sore bodies but lots of confidence as they moved inside to play. They played Nayland in the semi and smashed it winning by 11 goals. The girls were all very excited that they have made the final and Qualified for A grade in 2018. Unfortunately the girls ran out of steam in the final and came 2nd overall which is an amazing achievement.
Pool for Schools
Our Pools for Schools team qualified for the Nationals and attended these over tournament week in Christchurch. Julia Burnett and James Burnett placed 3rd in the pairs, Lydia placed 3rd in the singles and James won the singles final 5-1.
Well done to all our students on these achievements. You should proud of your efforts as we are proud of you all.
