Football

Congratulations to Karma Gyeltshen who has been selected for the 16th Grade National Age Group tournament to represent Football south again this year.  It wasn't easy to get in as hopefuls had to trial twice in Alexandra for selection. The tournament is on the 13th-17th Dec 2017 in Wellington.

 Scooter and Skate

On Friday 25th August we took a team of five Year 7 & 8 boys to the SCPSSA Scooter & Skate competition.  All of the boys were on scooters. Sean Warren placed 3rd and Lincoln Davidson made it into the top 8 and got into the scooter-off. Well done to all boys - it was a great afternoon.

Ski Team

On Sunday August 27th Molly Kate came 2nd at the Aoraki Ski & Snowboard Champs. We did originally  have a team of eight ready to compete but due to the event being postponed on the original day and sickness, Molly Kate was the only one able to race and did an awesome job. Well done Molly Kate.

Aoraki MTB

Held on Saturday 16th September, starting in a drizzly old Geraldine morning, we were delighted to arrive in Oamaru to a nice clear and sunny day.

Courses were surprisingly technically challenging and the XC course was definitely a very physically demanding circuit.

A crew of four started the XC event (Jason, Connor, Cameron and Kate) with great results. Despite being the only U19 woman, Kate smashed out a fine 5 lap race for her gold.

Cameron hung tough in the early laps and came through for a fantastic second at the finish.

Connor and Jason both performed really well and finished 7th and 21st in the fiercely contested U15 age group.

Downhill ran in the afternoon, again with a crew of 4, Jason heading home and Lee stepping up.

Again, Kate rode a remarkable time (especially given her XC bike setup and "lack of race experience") to win another gold, thus taking the double on the day (the only athlete to do so I believe).

Connor was unlucky with a little crash on the first race run and ended up sitting 0.2 seconds off 3rd place and 3 seconds off 2nd, so disappointed to have missed some podium time!

Cameron and Lee both rode very solid runs and managed 5th and 6th respectively with Lee even managing time for a bit of tree hugging mid race!

As one of the smaller teams on the day, we punched well above our weight on the podium and were also unique in terms of fielding 4 contenders in both disciplines.

A great day out for team Geraldine.

Thanks to Tristan Leov for helping this team.
