Year 12 Gateway student, Julian Patrick has been awarded a Highly Commended in the Fairview Educational Services annual Gateway Awards.
Fairview is a provider of automotive Unit Standard course work, and only presents three awards nationwide each year – Gateway Student of the Year and two Highly Commended Gateway Students. Applicants had to have achieved a minimum of 12 Fairview Unit Standard credits throughout the year. They had to apply in writing stating why they should be considered, and letters of support also had to come from their work placement and from their Gateway Coordinator.
Julian is looking to pursue a career in the automotive industry and has been on work placement at M & G Autos in Geraldine for most of the year, and he also spent a day at Drummond & Etheridge at Washdyke.
Judges praised Julian, saying:
“Our judges agreed that you should be commended for the quality of your application and you should be very proud of the references that you received. The judges were also impressed with the quality of work that you have submitted throughout the year. It’s clear that you have a passion for the motor industry and have the right attitude to be a success.”
Julian received his award at the recent GHS Gateway Prizegiving.
