Girls Volleyball

On Thursday 9th November we took 2 Junior Girls Volleyball teams to the Aoraki Championships in Timaru. Both teams played some awesome Volleyball in what were their first games this season due to Friday Night Volleyball starting the next day.

Our Junior B Team went through pool play with 2 wins and 2 loses. They played off for 5th and 6th places but lost to Waitaki Girls 2 sets to 1.

Our Junior A team went through pool play unbeaten and were very excited to be playing Ashburton A in the Final. We won the first set and looked good for the next but lost focus and Ashburton took the second. In the last set the girls really stepped up to another level and won .

The girls were so excited as this is the first time we have won the Aoraki Junior Volleyball Championship. Well done to both teams.

Aoraki Touch

On Thursday 16th November Mr Blogg and Mrs Andrews took 14 Year 9 and 10 students to the Aoraki Touch Rugby Tournament. This was the first time Sport Canterbury had offered a Junior event for Touch Rugby. Our boys who were mostly Year 9 students played really well for their 3 games. They lost to Waitaki Boys, had a close loss to TBHS and won against Roncalli to be placed 3rd overall. Well done Boys.

School Triathlon

On Friday 17th November, Mr Wilcox ran a Year 7 & 8 House Triathlon where students could enter teams in Houses or enter as individuals. It was such a great event and all the students competing really pushed themselves and enjoyed the occasion.

The winning team from Acland House - Zara Coleman (Swimming), Molly-Kate Morrsion (Biking) and Arabella Acland ( Running).

Winning Individual -  Bede Fisher (Acland House)

Winning Individual Girl - Kristin Schoneveld (MacDonald House)

We held our Year 9 & 10 Triathlon on Thursday 23rd November - another great day and some great close races.

The winning team from Acland House - Conor Foley-Smith, Jason Harford and Flynn Coskerie.

Winning Individual Boy - Kahn Ashton (MacDonald House).

Well done to all that gave this event a go. It was great to see you all competing and all the parents supporting.

Cricket

On Tuesday 21st November we took 2 boys teams to compete in the South Canterbury Primary schools Tournament held at Ashbury Park.

With both teams winning their first matches, they had to play against each other in the semi finals.

The Year 8 team won yesterday's SC Primary Schools Cricket competition beating Opihi in a tight final.  The Year 7 & 8 team finished third overall.

On Thursday 23rd November we took 2 girls teams into the Girls Tournament. Another great start had as they both won their first games. The Red team won their semi final and the Black team lost their semi final. So like the boys we had one team in the final and one playing off for 3rd and 4th place.

The Red team won the final by 3 runs and the black team won the 3rd and 4th playoff.

Well done to all 4 teams for a great effort.

We have also had 3 boys make rep teams for Cricket.

Logan Sowden made the SC Year 8 Primary A Squad.

Jackson Weir and Scott Robertson made the SC Year 7 Squad.

Well done.

Ki O Rahi

On Wednesday 22nd November we had a Year 10 Boys team compete in the Aoraki Ki O Rahi Tournament held at Caroline Bay Park. The boys mixed with TGHS to form 2 teams for a fun Mixed Tournament to start the day.

The boys then went on to play in the boys tournament. They played MVHS first and drew with them in a close battle. They then played Waitaki Boys which was a step up and played amazingly well. While they lost to Waitaki 10-8 the game was so close and exciting. The boys came 2nd overall.
