Year 9 Art - Perehana
This term students in Year 9 Option Art have each produced a special 2 colour collagraph print. For this task, instead of assessment being the focus, they were working in the knowledge that it would be gifted as koha or perehana (a gift) to someone else. This means that the art work has been spread amongst the community, to friends, family or teachers. They took time to understand that these Maori motifs carry significant meaning and were mindful of this as they thought about who would receive the print at the end. We also discussed that when they leave the art room they, in a way, become part of a big exhibtion.
Photo is of the prints ready to go out into the world.
