Aoraki Tennis

On Tuesday 13th February we had a young Girls team enter the Senior Aoraki Tennis competition. Our girls had some great games in the first 2 rounds with losses to Ashburton and Waitaki 4 -2 . Round 3 saw them up against Craighead which ended up being 3 games all and by count back the girls got the win 29 games to 21.

Well done to Amelia McKeown, Brianna Howell, Molly-Kate Morrison and Brooke Dwyer who placed 3rd overall.

Year 7 & 8 Cricket

Our Boys team played Pleasant Point in their first match. They bowled them out for 30! Harrison Oliver took 4 wickets for 7 off 4 overs, they then batted and reached the target with 3 wickets in hand, which meant they made it to the final against Waihi.

The boys lost the final to Waihi, but they gave the top team a good fright. To put it into context, Waihi had 8 Rep players, 9 of them being Year 8. We had 2 development players and only 4 Year 8 students.

The boys played with spirit and were by far the most vocal and positive team at the tournament. Highlight of the day was Jackson Weir taking a boundary catch to remove a player who had just scored 100 in the previous game! Player of the day was Harrison Oliver taking 6 wickets overall and for setting up the win against a strong Pleasant Point side.

Well done the the boys and thanks to Mr Powell for taking the team.
