 SISS Volleyball

Our Senior A Girls team competed at the SISS Satellite Tournament in Christchurch during Tournament week.

The girls played some outstanding Volleyball with Kasie Jopp being the standout player. The girls had a tough draw but came out 3rd in their pool.

On the last day they played off for 5th and 6th and won that game to come 5th out of 13 teams.

SISS Athletics

On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th April we had 10 Athletes compete at the SISS Athletics held in Timaru.  Results were:

  • Megan Isherwood - 1st 100m, 1st Shotput and 2nd Discus
  • Jessica Adams-Stachurski - 2nd 100m, Shotput and Discus
  • William Wilson - 6th U14 400m
  • Xavier Henwood - 8th U15 Shotput
  • Samantha James - 9th U15 Discus
  • Jasmine Wells - 9th U19 Girls 800m
  • Hayden Sturm - 10th U14 200m
  • Amelia McKeown - 10th U14 400m  and also competed in the 200m and Long Jump
  • Our U14 Boys Relay Team - William Wilson, Hayden Sturm, Angus Grant and Dylan Rangiawha. Made the final but were unable to race.

SCPSSA Swimming

On Thursday 29th March we took 21 Year 7 and 8 swimmers into Cbay to compete in the SCPSSA Swimming. We had a great day in the pool. Results were:

  • Daniel Gould - 12yrs 3rd 50m Freestyle and 2nd 50m Backstroke
  • Emily Coleman -12yrs 3rd 100m, 50m Freestyle and 50 Backstroke
  • Jack Boorer-Lilley - 11yrs 1st 50m Breaststroke, Open 2nd 100m Freestyle and 100m IM, 3rd 50m Butterfly
  • Kristen Schoneveld - 12yrs 2nd 50m Backstroke and 25m Backstroke, 3rd 25m Breaststroke
  • Lydia Rae - 12yrs 2nd 25m Freestyle and 3rd 25m Backstroke
  • Sophie Holden - 12yrs 1st 50m Freestyle
  • 11yr Relay Team - 3rd Jack Boorer-Lilley, Will Morrison, Charlotte Orange and Nevaeh Te Wharehinga O’Keeffe
  • 12yr Relay Team - 2nd Seth Bradley-Doig, Daniel Gould, Lydia Rae and Emily Coleman.

We also had a number of school records broken at this event:

  • Jack Boorer-Lilley beating his own school records for 50m Breaststroke - was 46.38 now 43.84; 50m Butterfly - was 39.92 now 37.94; 100m Freestyle - was 1.16.87 now 1:12:27; 100m IM - was 1.27.03 now 1:21:41.
  • Lydia Rae bet her own record for 25m Freestyle - it was 15.56 now 15.03.
  • Kristen Schnoeveld bet Harriet Robb's record from 2008 of 21.04 for 25m Breaststroke with a time of 20.58.
  • Sophie Holden bet Emily Coleman's record from this year of 33.46 for 50m Freestyle with a time of 31.75.

Well done to all of these swimmers.  

Aoraki Volleyball

On Thursday 5th April we took 3 teams in to Timaru to compete in the Aoraki Volleyball Champs.

The Senior A Girls got off to a good start getting 2nd in their pool, but with only 6 players at the tournament, ran out of steam and came 6th in their Grade.

The Senior B Girls won both games in their pool and made it too semi finals but then came up against a strong Waitaki Girls team and lost in 2 sets, but won their 3rd and 4th play off.  They placed 3rd in the Senior B Girls Grade.

Our Year 11 Girls team had a tough pool losing both their matches having very close sets. The sets they lost, they only lost by 2 points. The girls ended up placed 5th in Senior B Grade.

Friday Night Volleyball

Friday Night Volleyball came to an end on Friday 6th April.

Our Senior A’s had a close battle against Mountainview High School for their 3rd and 4th play off. Unfortunately they couldn’t take the win and lost in 4 sets.

Our Senior B team have been playing awesome Volleyball and were unbeaten the whole season and they kept this run going winning the final Against TGHS Senior B.

Our Junior A team were also unbeaten the whole season and also kept it that way in their final Against Roncalli. It was there closest match of the year and made for a great final but came away with the win 2 sets to nil.

  • Senior B - 1st Senior B Grade
  • Junior A - 1st Junior A Grade
  • Junior B - 6th Junior A Grade
  • Geraldine Black - 3rd Junior B Grade
  • Geraldine Red - 4th Junior B Grade
