Swimming Sports

Thanks to all those who helped out during the 2019 edition of the GHS Swimming Sports. It turned out to be a great carnival with a high level of participation in most year levels. A big 'thank you' to Mike Meadowcroft who oversaw the event and ironed out the small issues we came across; Roxanne Rooney and Andy Morrison on the data entry; Kim Andrews and Sarah Foley-Smith for sorting the time keepers judging and recording; Stuart Wilcox who marshalled the students impeccably and of course Amy Ross for her patience when starting each race. A slick crew, meant I could hunt for lost shoes, dish out sunscreen and attempt to answer 100's of " when is my race...?" questions.

Thank you to all those parents and caregivers who came in and supported the students, it was wonderful to see so many of you. The carnival highlights would be the crowd support given to Luke Bennett as he finished his 25m Freestyle and Breaststroke. Conor Foley-Smith swimming the fastest 100m ever in the pool. Marcus Furrer is a brilliant swimmer in his own right, winning all his 6 events and setting 3 records. Unfortunately for him, Conor Foley-Smith is in a league of his own and impressively broke all 6 records he raced in. Other record breakers were Jack Boorer-Lilley (2 records), Maelle Rossignol (2 records) and Kristen Schoneveld (1 record).

Commiserations to the staff relay team who were pipped at the post after leading the race until the 9th and final leg. Hopefully the staff relay team will be back on top after the Athletics.
