Covid-19 Welfare Info

Concerns about Covid-19 and its impact on our community are affecting us all. We have compiled some info from the govt to help alleviate some of the worries you might have.

Food and other essential goods – if you are unable to access the things you need during lockdown, or you are worried about someone you know who might be having difficulties, support through local CDEM Groups is available - more info here. Please note this service is intended for people and whanau who don’t have any other options available to them.

Financial support - if you’ve lost your job or had your hours reduced you may be able to get a benefit or some other financial help from Work and Income. There is help available for urgent costs like: food, accommodation costs (rent, mortgage, board, emergency housing), emergency medical treatment. You can find more information about financial support (including eligibility criteria) on the Work and Income website here or on 0800 559 009. 

Employer Wage Subsidy is designed to help keep your business going if you face laying off staff or reducing their hours because of COVID-19. If you’re an employer, contractor, sole trader or are self-employed you may qualify. The subsidy is a lump sum payment for the employer to pass on to employees and covers 12 weeks per employee.
