Geraldine High School is a well-resourced school in a stunning environment that is a credit to the far-sighted people involved in establishing the school, firstly as a district high school and then, in 1963, as a rural full-status high school from Form I (Year 7). The magnificent “green” spaces and the fine trees and gardens which surround the school are impressive.

The school also has an enviable reputation for a history of strong service to its community.

We have an on-going commitment to continue being a well-resourced school which meets the needs of our students in the 21st century. However, as government budget constraints limit the funds available to improve our facilities, the school needs to raise significant funds from other sources.

We need you! It is our hope that, as members of the Geraldine High School community, our Alumni group of past students will take this opportunity to give back to their school and contribute to ensuring that Geraldine High School continues to educate our young people to make a positive contribution to the well-being of our community and New Zealand.

Giving Back

Geraldine High School Foundation

The Geraldine High School (GHS) Foundation would like your support!!

Welcome to the GHS Foundation, a trust established in 1998 to assist in furthering the education of students attending GHS. The foundation provides support to GHS through various strategic projects and programmes using volunteer services and funds raised through generous donations from past pupils, local businesses and community groups.

The foundation is charged with prudently managing these funds and allocating monies to trustee approved projects that are not funded by the Ministry of Education or GHS operational grant budgets.

Some of the key projects the foundation has supported are:

  • Renovations to the library

  • Transport assets – school car & mini van

  • Garage to house the school car & trailers

  • Developing a year 7 & 8 playground

  • Purchasing speakers for the assembly hall

  • Upgrading the Hauora/Wellbeing centre

The financial contributions to these projects with GHS to date is over $120,000. The foundation, in conjunction with GHS, is working on more strategic projects that will further benefit GHS pupils.

In order to continue to deliver strategic projects and increase the resources available, the foundation is seeking additional support from past students and the local community. This support can be provided in various forms such as:

  • Volunteering/Mentoring – past students or businesses may have a particular skill/qualification that current students are keen on pursuing. Donations of time or resources to help these students are always gratefully accepted.

  • Financial contributions – the foundation is a registered Donee organization. Depending on the tax status of the donor, donations may be eligible to attract tax credits.

The GHS Foundation will welcome any contribution you are able to make to help benefit GHS pupils. Please email us at ghsfoundation@geraldinehs.school.nz

With the aim to foster social connections with GHS and friends, and to help expand the involvement in its strategic goals, the foundation is working on the development of an alumni database of past pupils.

Please join the alumni by emailing alumni@geraldinehs.school.nz and join our group on facebook Geraldine High School Alumni.
