Chemistry

Chemistry

LEVEL TWO

Code: L2CHE

Course Description

This course explores complex topics such as the structure and bonding of various compounds and chemical reactions such as acid-base and redox processes. The curriculum strongly emphasises analytical skills, with  students engaging in titrations, ion analysis, and other experimental techniques, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge and develop proficiency in hands-on chemistry

Vocational Pathways: Construction and Infrastructure, Manufacturing and Technology, Primary Industries, Social and Community Services and Creative Industries

LEVEL THREE

Code: L3CHE

Course Description

This course builds on the foundational concepts introduced at Level 2 and covers some new concepts. Throughout the year, students engage in complex topics such as electrochemistry, the analysis of spectroscopic data, and learn about the diverse functional groups and reactions in organic chemistry. The course also covers in-depth thermochemical principles and explores the properties of particles and substances. This course is designed to give students knowledge and skills necessary for their chosen pathway beyond school whilst developing critical thinking, problem-solving and research skills.

Vocational Pathway: Health Sciences, Veterinary Science, Engineering and Agricultural Science, Laboratory Technician, Pathology, Forensics, Pharmacy, and Environmental Science.
