What is the Building Academy?
A kaupapa-driven, student-centered programme that provides our rangatahi with the opportunity to build practical skills, confidence, and real-world experience through engaging in meaningful construction projects. Grounded in the New Zealand Curriculum, aligned with BCITO and in accordance with the NZ Building Code, the Building Academy focuses on developing both technical abilities and the personal growth of our students.
The Academy nurtures:

Confidence and capability by scaffolding practical tool use and building concepts to grow competence.
Career readiness through supporting pathways to apprenticeships and employment.
Supportive mentoring which focuses on helping our students who might not thrive in traditional classroom environments to discover their strengths.
What we're looking for in Building Academy Students
Willingness to Learn
You’re open to trying new things, asking questions, and learning from your mistakes.
Curiosity and Interest in Building
You enjoy working with your hands, figuring out how things go together, and you’re keen to understand how things are built.
Team Spirit and Respect for Others
You’re willing to work as part of a team, help your mates out, and respect your kaiako and classmates.

You show up, you try your best, and you take pride in the mahi. Even when it’s hard or you’re not feeling 100%.

Entry Criteria
Entry is limited so you need to meet the following criteria to be considered:
You will be a Year 12 or 13 student
You need to fill out this application form and then hand it in to Kyle Profitt down at the Building Academy area before the 22nd August.
Numbers are limited, so Interviews will form part of the entry process.
