July Sports Update 2025

July Sports Update 2025

Welcome to the start of Term 3 Sports at GHS. There is plenty happening this term with finals for winter codes, Aoraki Badminton, Table Tennis, Clay Target shooting and Snow Sports. We also have students heading away to Netball, Basketball, Rugby and Hockey tournaments in Winter Tournament week. It’s going to be a busy term.

We welcome Mrs Bianca Sheed to the Sports Department at GHS. Bianca will be taking care of gym bookings and Aoraki events.

If you want to know more about sports at Geraldine High School check out our Facebook page, Geraldine High School Sport where we post results, notices and photos.

Fees and Uniforms

Just a gentle reminder that fees for sporting events need to be paid and uniforms need to be returned asap.

There are a number of outstanding sports fees which are now overdue. Please pay asap if you know you have these.

We now have some of the uniforms on a barcode system, which is great for keeping track of them. If you notice the barcode coming off after washing, just iron it down again.

Sports Webpage

Check out our school website on the Sports Tab for info about Sports on offer at GHS.

Basketball

Friday Night Competition is due to finish with finals on 15th August 2025. A number of our teams could be playing for top spots in their grade so it would be great to support out teams.

Subs of $80 are due now.

Riccarton High School Exchange

We had the pleasure of hosting Riccarton High School in our annual exchange recently. It was great to see our teams in action on home turf and the Senior A Boys Basketball game really was a spectacle of some amazing Basketball.

Results as Follows:-

Football 2-1 to GHS

Senior A Girls Basketball 47-20 to GHS

Senior A Boys Basketball 67- 66 to Riccarton

Senior A Netball 37-24 to GHS

So with these amazing results GHS took out the shield for the first time in a number of years.

Netball

Junior SISS

In the holidays our Junior A Netball team attended Junior SISS in Christchurch. The girls played well and ended up 14th in their grade. Thank you to Cath Hudson and the other parents and coaches who were with the team for the tournament.
