Italy Update from Kyra
Italy Update from Kyra
I am in a group of 7 girls with the other 6 girls being Aussies, and we are staying in a village called Illasi just outside of Verona. The views are absolutely stunning and racing and training feels like a dream.
So far, I have done 4 races one of which was a junior one, with the other 2 being national level races and the other UCI race, which is like a professional level race.
I am loving the racing with about 150 girls compared to New Zealand, where I am only racing about 15 people. My best result so far is in the UCI race, where I was the youngest rider in the race and I finished 2nd in the U19. In this particular race there were about 110 riders with only 53 finishing. Only two riders finished from my team as it was so brutal and the pace so high. This particular race was also in Rome so afterwards I got to see the Colosseum and famous buildings and water fountains which was pretty cool, as well as seeing the tower of Pisa at my third race.
I am now halfway through and looking forward to the following races to come and hopefully get some more results on the board.
