GHS Easter Baskets

In Term 1 we had a group of students meet over a couple of morning tea times to prepare the community Easter gift bags. The school has been gifting these for over 10 years to nominated community members who receive them just before the end of term and leading up to Easter.

It was great to see the spirit from these students and the fun they had bagging up goodies from our sponsor, Barkers, and some marshmallows and chocolate eggs sponsored by Four Peaks Transport.

The school is grateful to have local businesses support this initiative over the years. We appreciate your help.

This year, we opened up nominations for new members of the community who would receive a gift delivery. We were able to reach more people this way and spread more joy, some Easter spirit, and a visit from our students.

Below, I will list the email address you can use to nominate people or families for next year.

The criteria are as follows:

• Older members of the community by themselves

• Individuals or families with serious illness or injury

• Individuals or families with a recent bereavement

• Individuals and families suddenly struggling with unexpected life challenges

• Residing within or having previous strong links to Geraldine

I would like to thank the students involved and the staff who help take the students out for deliveries. It is a huge job, but it gives everyone involved a huge amount of joy, and we love visiting our community members.

We deliver a basket of goodies to our local rest homes as well, which is a real pleasure, seeing their eyes light up as we approach with some Easter cheer.
