Sports Update Week 5 Term 2

Winter sports are in full swing and we have been getting some great results across a number of teams and individuals.

In the recent SI Cross Country event our school was very well represented and we had some awesome results at this event.

Fees and Uniforms

Just a gentle reminder that fees for sporting events need to be paid and uniforms need to be returned asap.

We now have some of the uniforms on a barcode system, which is great for keeping track of them. If you notice the barcode coming off after washing, just iron it down again.

Cross Country

SI Cross Country

The South Island Schools Cross Country Festival was held on a very challenging course at Ashbury Park. GHS students represented our school proudly in this event that welcomes all runners to participate.

This event encourages schools to enter as many runners as they can by awarding medals for teams of 3  or more who finish with the fastest times in each grade.

Year 7 boys and un16 boys teams were second, Year 9 boys 3rd

Year 7/8 girls combined team were 4th in a very competitive grade (18 teams overall in this grade).

Badminton

Badminton is up and running in the Gym. Come along on a Thursday night 6-7.30pm for a hit around.

Quads

We have quad sports exchanges happening. GHS is hosted Junior Quad and will host Senior Quad this year. Middle Quad is at Mt Hutt College on Tuesday 10 June and Senior Quad is at GHS on Tuesday 24 June 2025.

We won Junior Quad!!! A great day of games with GHS teams winning Y8 Netball, Football and second and third in Y7 netball and Rugby. Great effort.

Big thanks to the Sports Committee and other students for all your hard mahi setting up, score keeping and refereeing. Very much appreciated.
