Course description
The music course will focus on preparing students for whatever pathway they choose to pursue in music. The themes covered in this course will include: performance, analysing musical contexts, sound engineering, developing aural skills, music production, developing knowledge of musical conventions, instrumentation, arrangement, and composing instrumental/vocal pieces.
At NCEA Level 1, you will be able to select 19-20 credits from the list below.

Entry Criteria
Year 10 Music is highly recommended as it is a foundation course for Level 1. Students who did not take Music in Year 10 may take this course, but only with approval from Mr. Love.
As music is a practical, performance-based subject, it is expected that you will have already been learning an instrument for at least two years. Performing in front of an audience is a compulsory aspect of this subject.
LEVEL TWO

Course description
