The Year 7 and 8 students participated in their annual speech competitionin Term 3, where finalists from each homeroom had the chance to present their speeches to a panel of judges. They competed for the prestigious speech cup and the opportunity to represent Geraldine High School at the District Speech Competition. Topics ranged from "Mullet: Good or Bad," to "Barbie as a Role Model," and "In Order to Succeed, You Must First Fail."

All speeches were delivered with originality, clear purpose, and outstanding projection, pace, and control.

Congratulations to Charlotte Taylor, who won with her speech on "Barbie as a Role Model." Her key points emphasised Barbie's 250+ careers, which inspire children to believe they can achieve anything.  Charlotte also highlighted Barbie's inclusivity, noting that the doll now comes in 35 skin tones, 97 hairstyles, and 9 body types, representing diverse abilities and family structures, allowing every child to see themselves in a Barbie.
