Principal's comment November 1st 2024
This time of year is bitter sweet. It is a time of celebrating the successes of our students through the Senior Prize Giving and Sports and Cultural awards. It is also a time for our Year 13 students to reflect upon their time at Geraldine High School. While I have not been here for the majority of their time at this kura it was evident over the last two weeks how much this place means to all of these students and how much they have grown as individuals in this time. They will now embark on the next step in their lives, some heading off to universities or polytechnics for further education and others into employment. We wish them all the best in what ever they are doing.
To all the prize winners in the last couple of weeks I would like to congratulate you on your achievements. These awards come about through hard work, dedication and perseverance.
I would like to also congratulate our student executive for 2025. This was an extremely difficult process to go through with such high-quality applicants.
Student Executive for 2025 are:
Head Students: Hunter Wilson and Mackenzie Waldron
Deputy Head Students: Oliver McKeown and Ebony Pierson
Rangatahi Leaders: Summer Snow and Georaeah Edmonds-Cooper
Sports Leaders: Tasman Pidgeon and Lily Jones
Arts Leaders: Kohl Brown and Thomas Bain
Academic Leader: Chanalee Walter-Duncan
Acland House Leader: Lily Christensen
Trip House Leader: Ella Chapman
Cox House Leader: Bryn McKeown
Macdonald House Leader: Nicole Schoneveld
The seniors are now on study leave preparing for their NCEA external examinations. We wish them all the best and remind them that "Proper planning promotes positive performance". So put the mahi in and you will earn the rewards.
To our junior students there is still plenty of school work to complete. These are the foundation years that will prepare our students for success in the senior school. Keep focused on the task in front of you as there is not long to go in the school year.
Nga mihi nui
