YES (Young Enterprise Scheme) Pitch

YES (Young Enterprise Scheme) Pitch

The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) allows students to unleash their inner entrepreneurs and experience the business start-up world first-hand. It is an experiential programme where students set up and run a real business. We have ten students in Te Whare Ako participating in this exciting journey.

Recently three of our YES team from Te Whare Ako ventured to Timaru to Pitch their business idea. Our business is called Whimsical Wonders Inc and we're partnering with No Laughing Me Publications. There were students from all around the area including as far away as Logan Park (Dunedin), Twizel Area School and Mount Hutt College.

Maija D (CEO), and Pheenyx TW completed our pitch for Whimsical Wonders Inc. They were well supported by Carl S. Over 20 other innovative and creative pitches were presented in the 'Dragon's Den' setting.

The pressure was on and it was a rollercoaster of emotions for all as Geraldine High School had not entered this competition for many years. Nerves were running high! Maija and Pheenyx, although nervous, faced their fear and delivered their 'Pitch' like professionals. They were AMAZING!!

Although we didn't get 1st, 2nd or 3rd on the day we received Ben Millington's (from Todd Mudie Group) $100 Judges Choice award which the group, very sensibly, are placing back into the business to buy further resources and materials.

We can be incredibly proud of each of them! Each student represented Geraldine High School superbly demonstrating all of the values we promote at Geraldine High School.

Our next task is to market and promote our business so keep a look out for more details of our wonderful products.
