Visit from Thailand

We have just had a visit from 7 students from Thailand. This was part of a study abroad summer programme where students in Thailand come to New Zealand for a "kiwi experience" 

Day 1: They were welcomed into our school by our Kapa Haka group and had a lesson in Poi. 

During a summer programme students will experience a New Zealand classroom, our buddy system where our own students get to learn more about diversity, culture and enables them to work towards their own global citizenship and their own place in the world. 

Our visitors get to go on a number of trips to discover what Canterbury can offer in the hopes that some of these students will come back to study long Term. 

One of the best parts of a study abroad programme is the ability to offer a host family. Our wonderful homestay coordinator Bronwyn works closely with our homestay families so that everybody gets the best experience possible. We will forever be grateful for the families that open their homes and hearts for our International students. 

2025 is looking up and it appears that's it's going to be busy for International at Geraldine High School, we are very excited to be welcoming students from Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Japan, Thailand and China.
