Winter sport is well underway now and we have had teams competing in Cross Country, Rugby, Netball, Football, Hockey, Basketball, Cycling and new to the mix Chess.
It’s been a busy term and it has been great to see our students succeeding and consistently demonstrating excellent sportsmanship on and off the field of play.

Aoraki Junior Basketball
We have had our Y9 & 10 Boys and Girls attend Aoraki Junior Basketball events recently. The boys were 5th. The girls were 2nd and unlucky not to grab the top spot.
Football
Our First XI football team had a game against Mt Hutt College and our team won this clash 5-0.
Quad Sports Exchanges
We have had Junior (Darfield), Middle (Leeston) and Senior (Methven) quads this term. Three sports were involved: Rugby, Netball and Football.
Some great sporting moments across all of the quads however it was Senior Quad that GHS performed the best at. We won Senior Quad. The last time we had the trophy was 2017, with Football and Netball winning all their games and Rugby winning two out of three matches.
Thanks to all staff, parents and supporters who were involved.
Chess

The inaugural Aoraki Chess Champs were held in Oamaru at Waitaki Boys this term. We had a good team of boys attend and William Kaufman came third.

The first fundraiser is going to be a hypnotist and the committee is looking at the end of August for this event.
