Year 7 Camp Stories

Molly & Paetyn – Screaming Competition
There I was at the starting line for the ultimate screaming competition. I was sure I was going to win. A high-pitched voice announced, “The competition has now begun. Compete at your own risk.” As people ran and screamed, the line got shorter, and the pressure built. The next person let out an ear-piercing scream, laughing and gasping for breath. Now it was my turn. I took a deep breath, ran as fast as I could, and unleashed a deathly scream. I passed the person who had gone the furthest—I won!

Laura, Ruby & Matilda – Half Sleeping
The torrential rain hit, and we were all disappointed that we couldn’t sleep in tents, but we knew it would still be fun. Night came, and we had to get into bed. It was getting late, but people in the cabins kept getting out of bed, so Miss Ross had to jump into action. She ran like Usain Bolt and caught them. After that, we became her spies. When Miss Ross wasn’t looking, everyone was sneaking lollies, but as soon as she made a move, all the lollies went back into hiding. It was a fun night after all!

Cleo – Screaming and Running
Deep voices, high-pitched screams. Laughing and giggling. Weird faces, huffing and puffing. Tongues sticking out of mouths. I questioned myself—how do people run and scream like that for so long?

Ayla – The King Tyre
CRASH! BANG! BOOM! Tyre after tyre went rolling down the hill, hitting the wall of tyres. I know, a lot of tyres—but then came the king tyre, the biggest and strongest of them all. It knocked down every single one. Hey, wait… is that Johnny in that tyre? Oh no!

Ayla – Mr D the Entertainer
Clap, clap, clap! The crowd went wild. Mr D was a singer, an entertainer, a friend, and a teacher. At camp, most of the games were thanks to him. I was in his group, and I never felt bored.

Ava – Secret Treats
It was pouring cats and dogs outside on the cold night. The teacher checked on us, and we were totally asleep. As soon as they closed the door, everyone sat up and shared lollies. The moment we heard footsteps, we hid everything and pretended to sleep. The next morning, we woke up exhausted—it was our own fault for staying up so late!

Levi – Water Slide
Screams of excitement and belly laughs from my campmates. My stomach burned from the speed. Dishwashing liquid covered me from head to toe—luckily, it didn’t taste too bad or burn my eyes! We got creative, doing flips, human sleds, huge run-ups, and even some standing tricks. CRASH—I gasped for air. Oh no, I hit the tyre!

Austin & Kase – Tent Chaos
When we finally got the tents up, it was the second night because of the rain on the first. It looked like chaos—hammers flying, tent poles everywhere. Later, in our tents, a group of three boys kept annoying another tent. Talking, talking, talking. Voom—“Is that Levi?” Our master plan to scare them was a success! “Oi, you lot, go to bed!” Too scared to make a sound, we slowly drifted off to sleep. Note to self: don’t pitch your tent next to a parent helper!

Marri & Melody – The Bus Ride
It was like a stampede—everyone racing to get the back seat of the bus. Chaos. People singing, kicking seats, stuffing their faces with sweets. The bus was loaded with anxious kids hoping no one would find their lollies.

Henry – Jet Boating Adventure
Day 1, it was pouring with rain when we had to take a van to go jet boating. The ride took about 20 minutes, splashing through huge puddles. When we arrived, we put on life jackets and set off—drifting, spinning in 360s, and zooming close to the rocks. Rain pelted us like tiny bullets. After some photos, we headed back, stopping at a gas station for some reason. After a noisy, cold ride, we finally arrived back at camp.

Jackson L – The Jetboat
The jetboat rumbled as we hopped in, making it feel like we were about to sink. Our life jackets squished into the seats, and the rain had already given us wet bottoms. On the way down, time felt slow, but on the boat, it flew by. Water constantly smacked me in the face as we swerved around corners. When we spun, it felt like we were crashing. My heart pounded. "Smile for the photo!" And just like that, it was all over.

Caleb B – Spotlight Chase
Thursday night was the moment everyone had been waiting for—spotlight. It was 8:30, and after the show, we were waiting for the taggers to be called out. "Noah and Ollie!"—my two best friends! When we were finally let out, it was like a stampede of wild animals. As I ran to the door, I got separated from Reuben, who, unlike me, had a torch. With daylight savings coming to an end, it was as dark as midnight. I sprinted out the door and down the hill towards the tree line. The squelching mud beneath my feet told me I was getting close. I threw myself into the bush, huddled up, and waited for the siren to go.

Esther – The Great Escape
The night was pitch black, the only light coming from the stars and the moon. Suddenly, flashlights flickered on. Everyone scattered in different directions. Our hearts raced as we found a hiding spot. Just as Jess started talking, a beam of light swept past. We froze. Silence. We were safe. HONK—the game was over. We had made it without a mark.

Jackson P – The Talent Show
On Wednesday at Year 7 camp, we had a talent show. I was in it, playing a night NPC helping a player. I also did a Rickroll with Reuben G. As I juggled socks, Ben gave me an 8, saying he felt déjà vu. Apparently, when he tells his kids to do the laundry, one juggles dirty socks while the other dances in the corner.

Jonathan – The Giant Tyre
At Year 7 camp, there were heaps of tyres and a big hill, so what did we do? We rolled them down! They sped like Lightning McQueen. Then came the mother of all tyres—so big I could fit inside! Rolling down in it was so bumpy, like crashing over rocks. I nearly smashed into the fence—with me still inside!

Liam – Q&A Madness
Camp was fun, but you know what’s even more fun? Q&A! What? You don’t know what Q&A is? You must have been living under a rock! Well, let me explain—AHA! Q&A stands for Question and Answer! It’s all about asking questions and getting answers. It’s a great way to learn and share ideas!

Ollie & Riley – The Drop
Pain shot through my back. The world around me was peaceful—birds chirping, wasps buzzing. Adrenaline pumped through my veins, my heart pounding. As I reversed backward, my mind was filled with mixed emotions. Nervous that something would go wrong, yet excited that I was stepping out of my comfort zone. Everyone watched, cheering in support. I finally reached the bottom after persevering. “I want to do it again!” I was disappointed that we couldn't.
