Te Whare Ako Snow Day Adventures

Te Whare Ako Snow Day Adventures

Thanks to Mr Titchener, students supported by Te Whare Ako headed up to Mount Dobson last Tuesday for a wonderful day of experiences in the snow. The weather couldn't have been more perfect! The scenery was nothing short of spectacular. The wildlife we saw along the way was also very entertaining.

A traditional stop-off in Fairlie began the day well and lots of laughter could be heard, especially from Caty as she rang the train bell at the playground and came whizzing down the slide on her tummy.

It was wonderful to see tuakana-teina at its best with students supporting each other to get safely down the slopes and dig snow caves. Conner loved the snowball fights and Mrs Pemberton graciously received the snow in the hood of her jacket and down her back in excellent spirits. We were thrilled to see students stretching themselves outside of their comfort zones.

Carl and Reuben cooked sausages on the gas cooker and they went down a treat. Fresh snow slushies were a treat at the end and they topped off the day nicely.

The students demonstrated all of the values promoted at Geraldine High School.

We'd like to thank Mt Dobson owners for generously allowing us to use their facilities free of charge. It is greatly appreciated and we look forward to many more future adventures.
