Geraldine High School’s Senior Prizegiving
Geraldine High School’s Senior Prizegiving
Friday the 27th of October saw Geraldine High School celebrate our Senior Prize Giving with over 75 students being recognised for a wide range of achievements at the highest level and showcasing the academic, sporting, and cultural achievements of our students.
It was also pleasing to be able to celebrate the entrance scholarships that some of our Year 13 students have received from the universities that they will be attending next year. This is a clear endorsement of the diligent way that they have approached their studies. As a school, we are very proud of all of these students and what they have achieved in the 2023 school year.
The hard work and commitment of the 2023 Student Executive was also recognised and the 2024 Student Leadership team was announced. We are looking forward to seeing all they can achieve in 2024 in support of our school.
I would like to reiterate, on behalf of our school community, a massive thank you to the local organisations and families that have supported us for many years, sponsoring and donating prizes and scholarships, for their generous and ongoing support of our hard-working students as they take the next steps in their education.

A massive thank you to ex - Geraldine High School student Hamish Johnson who was our guest speaker for the event. Hamish spoke about his experiences in various industries following his years as a student here, and the path he eventually took into psychology. The key message for our students is that the world outside of school will be your biggest educator and your mind is your most powerful weapon and your strongest advocate. Thank you also to Gislinde Folkerts and Lynda Leary for the flowers and Year 13 gift, and Hugh McCafferty for agreeing to take photos of our event. The Geraldine High School office and administration staff undertook a huge amount of work to make the event happen. We would also like to recognise all our amazing performers; Tipene Berkahn, Sienna Baker, Ella Waldron, and Whaea Jordyn, our Kapa Group led by Jordyn Te Rahui-Hobbs, and all our student leaders who spoke so well on the day. Please see below a full list of the University Scholarships, Special Award and Scholarship recipients for 2023, and also the Supreme Award winners from the afternoon. Congratulations to all of the students who worked so hard throughout 2023 to receive awards and leadership positions.
